John is an award-winning artist and art educator. His eclectic styles range from abstraction to impressionism, often reflecting his love for nature and the play of light.
Inspired by the precisionist, Charles Sheeler and Georgia O'Keefe, as well as by the works of John Marin, John Singer Sargent and Winslow Homer, John specializes in reflective Waterscapes. Because he enjoys the diversity of working with a variety of media, his work is always fresh and constantly evolving. Other influences, Paul Klee, Joan Miro and Wassily Kandinsky, and his own spirit guides have inspired his spontaneous, bright and energetic "Sacred Geometry" series and the intuitive "Spirit Guide" paintings. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato, John has lectured in England, taught at University level and presented several Artist Residencies. He is a recipient of local, state and regional awards. His paintings are represented by galleries in cities from coast to coast, among them: Los Angeles, CA Scottsdale, AZ, Camden, ME and in his own gallery studio, joy To The Wind in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. His work is included in many corporate and private collections around the world. Together with his wife Lynne who is also an artist, they work year round creating new paintings and teaching private and group workshops. They currently reside in Maine from May through December, traveling and painting in the southwest during the winter months. They offer the intention of love, light and peace with you, the viewer, with their expressions of joy through painting.
